Best known as the drummer of Stan Getz, Little Jimmy Scott, Chaka Kahn, and Michael Petrucciani – VICTOR JONES has also worked with Woody Shaw, James Moodys, Wynton Marsalis, Nile Rogers and tons more. Recognized as one of the most prolific and eclectic drummers in jazz today, he appears on more than two hundred recordings and soundtracks. A two- time Grammy nominee one-time winner, and a one-time Oscar nominated artist. Victor began his musical journey back in the late 60s as a classical trumpet player in his hometown of East Orange, New Jersey. After 10 years of studying trumpet he became interested in the drums from listening to Ringo and the Beatles and then discovered the music of James Brown, Jimmy Hendrix, John Coltrane and Miles Davis. At the Ultimate Jazz Party at Solyst this summer you will be able to hear Victor perform with Curtis Stigers, the Doky Brothers and Swedish trumpeter Anders Bergcrantz.
